Music for the harp — Molly-Rowan Sharples
This free lunchtime concert features some beautiful music written and arranged for the harp, played by a young harpist who is passionate about showcasing the harp’s versatility, from the tender and emotive sounds of the French Romantic era to exciting contemporary repertoire that uses its percussive effects.
Molly-Rowan Sharples has performed in prestigious venues from St Martin-inthe-Fields, to The Menuhin Hall. A music scholar at both Wells Cathedral School and The Purcell School, Molly has been recognised through numerous accolades, including the Dyfed Young Musician of the Year title, and high-ranking placements in the John Thomas Harp Competition. She has served as harpist for the National Children’s Orchestra and currently performs with the Philomusica Aberystwyth Symphony Orchestra. After many offers, she has decided to accept a scholarship from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she will begin the next chapter of her musical education this Autumn.
