Advent is coming

The beautiful Christian season of Advent so often gets lost amongst our preparations for the fun and joy of Christmas. The season looks forward too – the name derives from the Latin for “coming” but it is not just the baby in the manger that Advent anticipates – it is the final coming of Christ as judge and ruler over all creation at the time of completion of God’s kingdom.

It is a time when we prepare ourselves to be ready to meet God face to face – in the manger, as we pass through death ourselves or when Jesus comes again in glory. All these themes will be picked up in our Advent Carol service to be held on Sunday 3rd December 2017 at 6.30pm at St Michael’s. See you there!

Advanced notice of a big weekend at St Nicolas!

St Nicolas is hosting a festival of nativity scenes on the 8th, 9th and 10th December.

The weekend “kicks off” with a service with Eastleigh Football Club – the first half of traditional carols and telling the story of Christmas in church and the second half will have refreshments in the clubhouse. Come and join us, the fans, the Mayor of Eastleigh and local schools in what promises to be a fantastic evening!
